By 1979, Royal Rangers had grown across the nation, and Commander Johnnie Barnes made the decision to create four more regions from the existing Western, Central, Southeast, and Northeast Regions  At the time, Southern Missouri was part of the Central Region, and Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee and Mississippi were part of the Southeast Region.  By combining those five districts, the Gulf Region was formed and officially started in 1980.  Below is a list of past and present officers of the Gulf Region.
